Application of micro dosing

The DC-MICRO volumetric micro dosing unit enables reliable dosing results in micro dosing. With this device, the smallest masterbatch and additive proportions can be precisely metered.

The installation is simple and takes place directly above the screw feeder of the processing machine. A special feature is the self-optimizing metering mode, which only requires the operator to enter the shot weight and the additive or masterbatch proportion. A selection of different metering modules and metering slides is used to optimize the metering performance of the unit to the respective application.

In the DC-MICRO-2 version, the unit is equipped with a hopper for the main component or virgin material and two additional metering hoppers, so that two different additives or masterbatch and additive can be added to the main component in the desired proportions.

DC-MICRO metering units have proved particularly successful in injection molding applications for small components in the electrical industry, medical technology, the automotive industry, mechanical engineering and the toy industry.

Conveyor technology for micro dosing

The feeding of the virgin material hopper and the dosing hoppers is done manually or by means of small conveyors fixed on the hopper of the main components or the additive hoppers. The modern single conveying device type F-30-P is suitable for automated conveying of the virgin material.

In addition, small material separators can be used to fulfill this task, which are linked to a Digicolor Compact conveying system via vacuum hoses or pipes. This type of conveying system is a compact vacuum blower station equipped with an industrial-grade side channel blower and dust filter that can feed and monitor up to four granulate conveying stations.

In contrast to virgin hoppers, additive hoppers in microdosing are usually fed by hand or by means of small venturi feeders due to the very small dosing quantities involved. With the modular Digicolor system, the right solution can be configured for almost any application.

For stocking the granules and additives to be metered, small containers or the small stainless steel containers of type C-50 specially developed by Digicolor are suitable.
