Digicolor dosing units for additives, masterbatch and regrind are characterised by the highest metering accuracy. The product range includes units that meter volumetrically or gravimetrically. Gravimetric dosing units are used in particular when consumption quantities are to be recorded and documented. The so-called micro-dosing units complete the comprehensive product range. These units are specially optimised for processing minibatch and microbatch.
All dosing units are particularly compact and space-saving and are mounted directly above the intake zone of the processing machine. By means of potential-free contacts, the units can be easily connected to the dosing signal of the processing machine or a suitable signal of the extruder. Depending on the application, different metering screws can be used to optimise the metering performance in terms of throughput in kg/h and accuracy.
Digicolor dosing units are highly suitable for the production of technical, optical and medical parts. This is due to the consistent construction of all units from high-quality stainless steel components,
Volumetric and gravimetric single-component metering devices can be used excellently for adding recyclate to the processing process. For this purpose, a dosing unit is installed directly on the feed section of the plasticising screw below the virgin material hopper. Such metering units are equipped with a special regrind metering screw. This equipment ensures optimum metering of the recycled material into the material column of the virgin material. The user sets the dosing process with defined dosing parameters via a convenient touch panel control. Here essential parameters are the shot weight of the plastic article and the percentage of regrind added. If several such dosing units are used on various machines, a central conveying system takes over the supply of regrind to the units and processing machines.
Very often a dosing unit is part of a machine-related recycling circuit. In this case, an auxiliary mill (plastic granulator, mini Goliath mill or toothed roller granulator) is set up next to the processing machine. This takes over the grinding of the sprues and rejects directly next to the machine or below the sprue ejector or sprue picker. In such an application, a single-conveyor unit or locally installed conveying system extracts the recyclate from the auxiliary mill. From there this regrind is fed to the dosing hopper of the dosing unit. This process is called inline recycling.
